Originally released in 1986 on the Japanese SEGA Mark III and then in 1987 on the SEGA Master System in North America and Europe, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was the pack-in game for many early SEGA fans. In fact, Alex Kidd in Miracle World was one of the first console games I ever owned, coming pre-installed into my SEGA Master System console, so it's difficult not to have a soft spot for the little monkey boy.
For those of you unaware, Alex Kidd, and certainly not Alex the Kid, was SEGA's mascot in the mid-to-late 80s. This was before a certain blue hedgehog came along and stole his crown.
Alex Kidd's adventure will see him travel through the world of Aries in his bid to defeat the evil Jaken the Great.
For those new to the game, don't be fooled by the cute art style and upbeat soundtrack, Alex Kidd is one tough cookie, and thankfully the new SEGA AGES release includes a handy rewind feature not seen in the original title. While this may make some of the Janken boss battles a bit on the easy side, it'll certainly be a welcome addition.
