Sonic 2 is certainly a massive improvement that is built upon the foundations of Sonic 1 and proved that the main game loop did work.

Often Sonic fanbois will give the original 10/10, and then everyone else will give it extremely low scored without any real reason. I do think Sonic 2 and Sonic 3+K are better in every single way.
