Nintendo announced a new Pokémon Snap is coming to the Nintendo Switch. The new title is aptly called ‘New Pokémon Snap’.

The news of New Pokémon Snap coming to the Nintendo Switch caught many fans off-guard. Although it’s been rumoured that a follow-up title has been coming to the home, this is the first official announcement of the new title.

The original Pokémon Snap is one of the best-known spin-off titles in the Pokémon franchise. Originally released in the year 2000 on the Nintendo 64, you are tasked with exploring various locations while snapping pictures of Pokémon in their natural habitat.

It later released on both the Nintendo Wii and WiiU Virtual Console service, where many players got their first taste of the non-violent on-rails shooter. While the title isn’t as popular as the mainline series, many Pokémon fans still have a place for it in their hearts.

The new title’s announcement, as well as a trailer, was posted on the Pokémon twitter page.

When to expect New Pokémon Snap

While the game doesn’t currently have a firm release date, it likely to miss the 20th anniversary of the game’s release in Europe this September.

It appears from the trailer that the core of the title hasn’t changed since the Nintendo 64 original. You travel around natural environments in a small motorised buggy, taking images of Pokémon on your way.

These photos are then graded on their composition, number of Pokémon snapped and whether the Pokémon have been encountered before. This gives the game a fun score-attack feeling. Allowing you to replay the stages in an effort to improve your previous score.

While the gameplay doesn’t appear to deviate too much from the original. It’s clear that the presentation has come on a long way. While the Nintendo 64 version was set outdoors, the areas were always boxed off by hills and cliff faces. This gave the game a some-what claustrophobic atmosphere.

With the power of the Nintendo Switch, the game now appears much more organic. With sprawling countryside and endless bodies of water stretching off to the horizon. These new environments not only make the game look much more impressive, but also help to make the world, and the Pokémon that inhabit it, appear more natural.

New Pokémon Snap is coming to Nintendo Switch and is being developed by Bandai Namo, and published by Nintendo. No release date has been confirmed as of the writing of this article.

Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Nintendo Switch. But do we really need another version of Sonic the Hedgehog? Of course we do!

If you were a gamer in the early 90s, you’ll likely remember all buzz around the original release of Sonic the Hedgehog. SEGA’s answer to Mario, Sonic was everything the plump plumber never was – cool, athletic and a little cocky. Rushing headlong through loops, through underwater labyrinths and into a dystopian metallic fortress.

Fast forward over a quarter of a century later, and that original title still holds a lot of charm for gamers of all ages – and now it is coming to the Nintendo Switch and kicking off their Sega Ages line up (not to be confused with the Sega Ages line of apps for mobiles).

The conversion is being handled by the tried and tested studio M2. Not content with a mere emulation of the original game, M2 <g class="gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="4" data-gr-id="4">have</g> added a whole host of new features and bonus modes, including adding the Drop Dash from the recent Sonic Mania, and the Spin Dash that debuted in the sequel; Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

All in all, Sonic the Hedgehog coming to the Nintendo Switch is great for fans of the blue blur, as well as those looking for a solid classic platforming throwback to the early 90s.

Sonic the Hedgehog comes to the Nintendo Switch on 20 September 2018 as a digital only title.

Just in time for Mario’s 35th anniversary, Super Mario 3D All-Stars brings three great Mario adventures to the Switch.

Announced at today’s Nintendo Direct, Super Mario All-Stars is coming to the Switch. This new release bundles three of Mario’s greatest 3D adventures into one package.

First up is the 3D platformer that started it all – Super Mario 64. Originally released on… you guessed it. The Nintendo 64 back in 1996. It’s difficult to explain how impressive this title was back when it launched almost 25 years ago.

Next on the roster is the GameCube follow-up Super Mario Sunshine. While this title may not be remembered quite as fondly as Super Mario 64, it improves upon the foundation laid by its predecessor.

Finally,, we have Super Mario Galaxy. Originally released on the Nintendo Wii, we see Mario hopping not only from platform to platform, but planet to planet!

For those looking to purchase Super Mario 3D All-Stars, you can head on over the Nintendo Store (UK/US) and pre-order now. You’d better be quick though, as this title will only be available for purchase until 31st March 2021.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is coming to the Switch on 18th September 2020.
