Command an army in strategic, turn-based combat as a tactical adviser for the Orange Star Army. Your expertise is needed as you move land, air and naval units across the battlefield. Takedown enemy squads and capture towns and bases to secure victory and keep the peace. Keep an eye on the game-changing terrain and weather as you lead a variety of units across multiple maps. This remake features two campaigns that cover the events of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising!

Nintendo Switch fans who are looking to jump back into some classic PlayStation era role-playing titles will soon be able to pick up both Final Fantasy VII and VIII physically. The best bit? They’re both included on the same cartridge.

This will mark the series’s return to Nintendo, after SquareSoft’s decision to jump ship to Sony during the 32-bit era. This ended almost a decade of support for Nintendo, with the Super Nintendo’s Final Fantasy VI being the final new mainline release on a Nintendo console.

On its release, Final Fantasy VII was applauded for its mature themes and storytelling, as well as its high production value for the time. It also became the first title in the series to be released in Europe and the UK, paving the way for many more JRPG series to make their way West.

For those who are interested in just one of the titles, both Final Fantasy VII and VIII are also available digitally on the Nintendo eShop store, as well other platforms including Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

Is the Nintendo Switch OLED Model the Switch Pro we’ve been waiting for?

The short answer? No.

Rumours of an upgraded Nintendo Switch have been circulating the internet since before the Switch was even on store shelves. Recently speculation has increased, with hints of a new console even being found in the recent Switch firmware. This led many to believe Nintendo would announce a new member to the Switch family of consoles ahead of E3. We’ve even discussed many of these on the Retro Gaming Dads Podcast.

However, E3 2021 came and went without Nintendo announcing any new Switch hardware. Then today, in typical Nintendo style, they announced the new Switch on their Youtube channel and website with barely any fanfare. Although looking at the changes made between this and the current Switch console, perhaps it doesn’t warrant any excitement.

The new larger 7″ OLED screen still inhabits the same sized body as the original Nintendo Switch.

While the OLED Model does have some improvements over the existing Switch, each change is very minor. Take a look at the comparison below and let us know if you think the new OLED model is worthwhile.

So what do you think of the new Switch revision? Is it enough to get non-Switch owners to jump onboard, or will it be enough for previous Switch owners to upgrade? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Have you ever wanted to see Pikachu in its natural habitat? In Pokémon Snap, you will capture lots of Pokémon found in the wild – not with a Poké Ball, but with a camera!

In some shots are easy, like snapping Pikachu relaxing on the beach, but others are much more difficult, such as taking the picture of Pikachu riding on the back of a rare, flying Pokémon! In Pokémon Snap, you’re on assignment from Professor Oak, the world-famous Pokémon professor. He needs lots of photos taken on Pokémon Island, where you’ll cross six fascinating environments in search of all the Pokémon you can find.
