This new Luster class centres around high speed combat using the often under-utilised Gunblades. The Luster also comes with three unique fighting styles and Luster-exclusive skills.

Before players can jump into the shoes of the new Scion class Luther, they’ll need to reach level 75 or higher with any two other classes.

To help players who may not have reached this lofty goal, Phantasy Star Online 2 is also running a 400% bonus experience gain on a variety of missions throughout the day – including the bonus key missions!

Fighting Styles

Zandi Style – Equipping a wind or lightning embued weapon will activate this high speed style, concentrating on agility and crowd control attacks.

Fomel Style – Aggressive close combat style available when using Fire or Dark element weapons.

Baran Style – Using a Light or Ice weapon will grant you this defensive style with long range attacks.

Skills

Along with a new class comes a slew of new class skills, and the Luster is no exception.

Luster Time – The Luster’s ultimate ability. Upon activation you will gain a boost to your defence for 30 seconds. You can then activate the skill a second time before the timer runs out for a powerful area of effect attack. This skill has a 5 minute cool-down, which can be reduced to as little as 2 minutes at High Voltage.

Voltage – Voltage acts as a sort of combo meter, giving the player various buffs when they reach certain milestones. Your first buff will occur when you hit 100 voltage, casting Shifta and Deband on the player to boost their attack and defence.
The next buff comes at 500 voltage where you enter a state of ‘High Voltage’. In this state you will gain a range of buffs including reduced cool down of Luster Time, increased critical hit rate and recovering a portion of the player’s HP and PP.

Slash Rise – After attacking you can press the jump button to transition into a slash rise. This bonus attack can help you to continue to raise your Voltage meter.

Style Purge – Gain access to a rapid fire attack in exchange for loosing the elemental bonus of your weapon. Charging your shot also allows for a powerful elemental shot that inflicts huge area of effect damage.

Stay/Moving Photon Arts – The Luster’s Photon Arts are divided into two categories; Stay and Moving Photon Arts. Depending on whether you activate a Photon Art while inputting a direction will depend on which of the two types of Photon Art you will trigger.

Subclasses

The Luster, like the other successor classes (Hero, Phantom and Etoile) cannot take a subclass. This means selecting the Luster as your main class will lock you into only using the skills and abilities of that class.

However, unlike the Hero class the Luster can be used as a sub-class to another non-successor class. This can be a great boost to any of the 9 original classes. Although not all skills will be available when used as a subclass.
