Eiyuden Chronicle – The Spiritual Successor to Suikoden Launches Kickstarter

Fans of the classic PlayStation role-playing games Suikoden and Suikoden II should head over to Kickstarter. There you will find the crowdfunding campaign for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

The developers, Rabbit and Bear Studios, are looking to raise a rather modest £396,500 from the Eiyuden Kickstarter. With a range of reward tiers ranging from digital copies of the game to vinyl soundtracks and even the chance to become an NPC in the game!

Eiyuden Chronicle - Characters attack a giant squid enemy with swords and magic.

The short clip they show on the campaign pages has a mix of PlayStation era style sprites, mixed with modern 3D backgrounds. Both of which fit in nicely together to give the game a very cohesive appearance.

If you’re interested in backing the campaign we would like to advise caution. Not because we don’t believe in what Rabbit and Bear Studios can achieve with Eiyuden. More because of the risks involved with backing games on platforms like Kickstart. We all remember what happened with Mighty No. 9 after all.

Rabbit and Bear are looking to release Eiyuden around October 2022. With current consoles targeted being the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo’s current system at that time.

We’d love to hear if you’re interested in backing the Eiyuden Kickstarter. Or would you rather wait for the launch and pick it up later on? Let us know in the comments below.

Have your say!

  1. It looks really interesting. The idea of giving money for a kickstarter game doesn’t appeal to me though. Did people ever get their rewards from other kickstarters such as Mighty No 9 and Star Citizen?

    • I actually pledged to the Mighty No.9 Kickstarter waaaaaay back in 2013. I pledged $75 for a physical box, manual and gold in-game skin for Mighty No. 9. I think it took about 4 years to receive the game, another 6 months to a year to receive the box and manual (which were just cardboard boxes and were also too small for the manual). Had I known how it would have turned out I really don’t think I would have bothered backing, although I think I would have still purchased the game once it was released.

I do agree with you though. I’m not overly keen on backing a project again. Especially one that is over 2 years away at best.
