The Immortal is a great old school atmospheric dungeon crawling game with a great chunk of adventure and some very clever trial and error puzzles. Now it’s hard, and you have to be into trial and error games and be prepared to die a lot to get anywhere. So it is for a very niche audience nowadays as most gamers nowadays are soft crybabies who can’t handle anything like that. But, if that’s your thing, it’s definitely worth checking out. Even if it is your thing, you are gonna get annoyed with some of the puzzles in this, and there’s a definite feel of jank, especially with the combat, which gets old pretty quick. But, when I’m reading some of these comments about it, it’s clear that the people playing the game are just too weak to enjoy a game like this. They’re the kind of people who want everything and into them, and don’t really have the capacity to get through games without a guide, evidenced by the fact that most of them are saying you can finish it in 45 minutes, because the whole point in a game like this is that you have a challenge which can take years to get through, if you don’t do soft stuff like use guides. So, I’d recommend this for basically people who enjoy Dark Souls games, but want. a more retro version of that, which is geared more towards puzzles and thought-based challenges rather than action ones.
